I literally laughed out loud when someone sent this to me this morning.
They found another one!
I wasn’t the first democrat to go to a Trump rally, nor am I the last. And I want people to go to these things and find out the people who they’ve been told are unamerican aren’t what the media say they are. The more people who wake up, the better.
But I couldn’t help but think “how many more people have been made stories like this?”
I’m not suggesting his experience isn’t authentic. I know my experience was, so there’s no reason to believe that others aren’t having similar experiences.
But I am suggesting that conservative media overhypes these things and makes them stories when they’re not really news. I am suggesting that the conservative media is no different than the lefty media when it comes to proactively seeking out stories that drive their narrative.
There are two red pills to take, at least when you come from the left.
The first red pill is when you realize how much the media has lied to you, probably your entire life. You start to explore outside of the comfortable world you’ve always known and find these voice with perspectives you’ve never heard before. Slowly, you start to realize the things they’re saying make sense.
The second red pill is when you realize the voices outside of the mainstream narrative have their own narrative, their own agenda. They aren’t the truth. It’s just another perspective.
When I red pilled, the level of betrayal I felt from the left overwhelmed my judgment, and my ability to realize the “other side” wasn’t necessary better…they were just selling a different story.
The story that Fox News want to sell you is that Democrats who go to Trump rallies and change their mind! That’s not to say it doesn’t happen - obviously, it does. But there’s a reason they want you to see this particular story. And there’s a reason they don’t tell you all the stories of people who go to Trump rallies and don’t change their mind.
I hope this guy has an easier time of it than I did. And I hope he inspires other people to look outside of their comfort zone and question what they’re being told. More people waking up is good.
But I couldn’t help but laugh…it’s just another story that they’re casting for. Think of that: The NEWS is casting for the right players to tell their STORY. Is it really any different than a hollywood film or a west end play?
They’re looking for actors to play the roles they need. The difference between these actors and the professionals, though, is that these actors are unwitting cogs in the political machine. They won’t know they’re being used to serve a purpose until it’s too late.
I’ll never regret telling my story. And it has afforded me the ability to pursue things that I do believe can make a real difference in the world. For that, I’ll always be grateful.
But damn, I really wish it hadn’t involved me being used by the political right to serve their agenda. I never agreed to that. The feeling of being used left me in fight or flight for two straight years, constantly on guard for the next way that people were going to try to fuck with my life. It led me to be loyal to some of the most legitimately awful people in the world only to have those people stab me in the back the minute it became convenient for them to do so because they don’t care about anything but their own survival. And I didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late.
Once you see the circus, you can’t unsee it. I’d give anything to take the blue pill and be inserted back into the matrix, to not have any idea about how all of this really works and how fucked up the world really is. It’s way worse than you know.
I hope this guy has an easier time of it. It shouldn’t be so hard to say what you see or experience or believe. It should be the easiest thing in the world.
Sadly, these are the games we are forced to play by those engaging in these tribalist battles, to the detriment of us all. We’ve always been playing the game. We just didn’t realize it.
