The Mises Caucus is continuing to LIE about what happened in New Hampshire.
Debunking their latest letter regarding the purge.
The Red Pill Diaries are my unvarnished, sometimes offensive, slightly narcissistic observations on my red pill journey.
If you’re looking for my unwoke content, head over to the Actively Unwoke Substack.
Today, I did a stream watching through the purge of the New Hampshire Mises Caucus, showing you the receipts that Jeff Douglas didn’t want you to see regarding what actually happened in the group leading up to the purge.
Jeff told every Mises Caucus organizer in the country that the chat was full of rats, haters, and do nothings that were only interested in shitposting.
When you actually look at the chat (and you can see all the screenshots for yourself here), you will see that Jeff was the one who came in like a bull in a china shop, treated everyone as his enemy, was antagonistic, removed anyone who wouldn’t bend the knee to him, and refused to listen to anyone who tried to reason with him or help him.
You can watch my full stream here:
Well, a few hours after this stream, Jeff Douglas sent out an email to everyone on the Mises Caucus mailing list in New Hampshire and it seems like he still hasn’t learned that his tactics are not going to work here.
In this article, I will provide commentary on the content of this email to hinge it back into reality with what actually happened. Jeff’s letter will be in italics with the yellow quote bar to the left of it. My commentary will be in regular typeface.
The letter begins…
Hello, Free Staters.
Let me stop you right there: In his communication over the last week, Jeff has expressed an absolute disdain for the Free State Project. In the signal group before the purge, Jeff flat out said their goal WAS NOT to support the FSP:
Jeff reiterated the same thing in his post to the Mises Caucus Organizers group the following morning:
To say that supporting the Free State Project means the LPNH is not a serious party is laughable.
The reality is this: There are more Free Staters in elected positions in New Hampshire than there are from the Mises Caucus in the entire country. They run for state reps as Republicans (sometimes they even run as Democrats) and they are able to influence the laws passed in New Hampshire in a real and tangible way.
Supporting the Free State Project and libertarian concentration is one of the single most important things we can do in New Hampshire to support a real liberty culture.
Jeff doesn’t know this, because Jeff doesn’t live here and refuses to understand how the state works.
The letter continues…
I'm writing today to clarify what has occurred between the Mises Caucus and LPNH over the past few days. I understand it's being perceived that I purged all MC members and shut down the Signal chat but this is not really what happened.
That is exactly what happened.
Jeff removed every single person in the Mises Caucus signal group. Jeff left the chat open and tried to add a few members back.
It’s my understanding that those members promptly left, wanting nothing else to do with the Mises Caucus.
There may be a signal chat that exists but there’s no one in it except for Jeff and maybe one or two people who are keeping an eye on the situation.
Just because he did not shut down the chat does not mean a purge did not occur.
The letter continues…
When I was given Admin access to the Signal chat by a former organizer I had the intention to remove a few former organizers who had separated with the MC over a conflict that began with the "6 million" tweet. We get blamed for the good *and* the bad.
Many people agree with Jeff that the 6 million tweet was a mistake, but here’s the reality:
The tweet was sent from the LPNH account, by members of the LPNH communications committee.
It was not sent by the Mises Caucus, either the national or New Hampshire account.
The Mises Caucus DOES NOT control the LPNH, and should never have expected to have ownership over the assets of the state party.
It seems as though Jeff feels entitled to control party assets when he doesn’t even live in the state and has shown absolute disdain for people who do.
The letter continues…
That particular tweet caused untold damage to our organizers around the country and in some cases even their businesses, and jobs *inside NH*.
It is absolutely true that tweet impacted people and their businesses.
And that was handled INTERNALLY. It is not the job of the Mises Caucus to swoop in and meddle in New Hampshire’s business. It’s not their Twitter account and, more importantly, it’s not their party.
But that’s not good enough for Jeff, he wants to control everyone.
In a decentralized revolution, there is no central ownership. That’s what decentralized means.
The letter continues…
What was at the time a negotiation in good faith between friends to rectify that has now been made out to be "a dictate" which is an untrue and unfair narrative. In fact a solution, proposed by NHLP leadership at the time, was agreed upon by both sides to put checks and balances in place to prevent these unforced messaging errors. At the time, nobody claimed foul play.
When that tweet was sent, there was a meeting with Michael Heise, Dave Smith and others from the Mises Caucus demanding to control who was on the LPNH comms team. This rubbed a lot of people the wrong way because, again, it’s not their party or their Twitter account.
Heise later denied he demanded anyone be removed from the Twitter, claiming it was just an off-handed remark…but in the message he posted to the Mises Caucus organizers’ discord the other day, he seemed to confirm that he told the LPNH to remove the person who sent the tweet from the comms team:
No matter what Nolan did or did not agree to, there is one undeniable fact:
The Mises Caucus has no business meddling in the operations of the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire.
This was the thing that always rubbed people the wrong way, whether they agreed with the complaints of the MC regarding the Twitter or not.
The purpose of organizing with the Mises Caucus was to ensure New Hampshire could send delegates to the national convention to replace the woke leadership of the Libertarian National Party.
That was achieved in May.
The same people who sent delegates to the national convention in May still control the party after the LPNH state convention two months ago.
There’s nothing more for the Mises Caucus to do here.
They have plausible deniability - they are not in charge of the party’s Twitter account. Why do they feel the need to control it?
The letter continues…
Something changed, and we don't know what happened because after this we were blamed for "meddling" in NH. That negotiation process is what the current drama appears to revolve around.
This is not true.
Michael Heise and Jeff Douglas are VERY aware of what the problem is: They are trying to control what the state party is doing with its assets. This is the very definition of meddling.
The current drama revolves around the fact that Jeff Douglas purged everyone from the New Hampshire Mises Caucus because he’s upset that he doesn’t control the Twitter.
The letter continues…
Screenshots from our NHMC chat were posted on Twitter by known haters who weren't in the chat over the course of months.
The “hater” he’s referring to is Justin O’Donnell, who is one of the most connected liberty activists in the state of New Hampshire, was Jeremy Kauffman’s campaign manager in his Senate campaign last year, and was single-handedly responsible for organizing a ballot access petitioning effort last year.
If you want the LPNH to be a serious party, the very best thing you can do is to work with Justin O’Donnell. Dismissing him as a “hater” just shows a lack of seriousness on Jeff’s part.
The letter continues…
Later, at the peak of the conflict, it was discovered that our NHMC gmail and Twitter accounts were stolen and rebranded by former organizers. This was a violation of trust that I, and many others took personally.
No, this was not at the peak of the conflict.
Jeff Douglas purged everyone from the New Hampshire Mises Caucus at 6:11pm on Wednesday.
The Twitter account was stolen a half hour later, after the purge had already occurred. It may not have been the most mature action to take, but it was a response to Jeff purging the entire caucus.
You can see the full posts with the timestamps here.
The letter continues…
With all of this occurring, I knew the chat was compromised and I felt my only option was to remove everyone and start the chat over with those we know and trusted. Given the heat of the conflict and the blatant disrespect I was witnessing I came into that chat very hot towards the people who I thought were driving this division.
The only person bringing conflict and disrespect in this entire scenario was Jeff. Jeff wasn’t very hot towards people “driving the division” - he was hot towards EVERYONE and was creating the division.
The conflict wasn’t between people in New Hampshire - it was between everyone in New Hampshire and Jeff.
The letter continues…
I said things in anger that were meant for specific individuals that in hindsight I know were perceived to be towards everyone and for that I apologize. I have nothing but love for the FSP and all of the work being done outside of the NHLP.
While I appreciate that Jeff is finally acknowledging that he said stupid things, we know this isn’t true that he has “nothing but love for the FSP” because Jeff himself has said several times he doesn’t believe the Free State Project is a serious political endeavor.
The letter continues…
I know now that many perceived this as a purge of the caucus, that was not my intention and it is our goal for our efforts in this state to continue. We remain committed to the growth, health, and success of the NHLP.
It’s not the job of the Mises Caucus to grow the LPNH. It’s the job of the LPNH to grow the LPNH, and there are good people in the state working on that.
Sadly, those people were purged from the Mises Caucus by Jeff and he told every Mises Caucus organizer in the country that they were “rats, haters, and do nothings.”
Jeff has shown that he only cares about CONTROLLING the LPNH.
He doesn’t understand New Hampshire, rebuffed every offer from people to help him, and shit on the people who have worked really hard in the last few years, including people who were elected delegates in Reno that helped the Mises Caucus take over the party.
The letter continues…
I respect and support that there are groups that are taking different avenues towards liberty, however, we will continue to focus on the LP.
This in and of itself shows that Jeff STILL does not understand the unique strength of the Free State Project in New Hampshire. The Free State Project does not need the LP to be successful, and the most important thing that the LPNH can do to support liberty in New Hampshire is support libertarian concentration in the state, aligning with the goals of the FSP.
The letter continues…
Those goals are radical messaging, membership growth, getting candidates trained and elected at the local level, and helping to get issues across the goal line like Defend The Guard. We want no parts of this silly drama, we want to #TakeHumanAction.
The Free State Project is already getting people elected at a local level as state reps. They do not need to run as Libertarians to do so.
But more than that, Jeff started this silly drama. He drove the silly drama. He drove away every person that still had an interest in working with the Mises Caucus in a single evening, including some of the most effective activists in the state, all because he refused to listen when people tried to reason with him and help him.
The letter concludes…
Those still dedicated to our mission and want to see a continued effort to strengthen the LP in NH we welcome you to rejoin that chat. Please fill out the survey linked below and I will make sure you are added back ASAP. Again, for those who felt slighted by me I am sorry that this happened and I will talk to anyone who wants to reach out.
Sincerely,Jeff Douglas
You’ll have to excuse me for not including the link to Jeff’s survey, but since I supported the Mises Caucus for two years and apparently was never valued, I see no reason to continue to drive people toward them just so they can be used and discarded as well.
The general consensus of those I’ve seen in New Hampshire is that the Mises Caucus no longer has a role. Maybe Jeff will be able to lure back a few people…but I strongly doubt they will have a role in the LPNH moving forward.
If Jeff is serious, then he needs to take responsibility for his actions that caused all of this, make amends with the people he purged, and show some genuine interest in understanding why New Hampshire is unique.
If Jeff genuinely made an effort to understand New Hampshire and stopped trying to control things, maybe there could be some way it could work. Who knows. But if Jeff thinks he’s going to come here and dictate - or kick ass and chew bubble gum - he will not be successful.
Adults admit when they’re wrong and they make a mistake. Children pretend it never happened and it’s everyone else’s fault.
Was this email sent before or after your stream? I watched it, I just didn't have anything to contribute with. If it was afterwards, that's telling.
