How they play the smear game.
Don't go to the internet looking for trust. You'll only find monsters.
The Red Pill Diaries are my unvarnished, sometimes offensive, slightly narcissistic observations on my red pill journey.
I’m no stranger of being called a narcissist because a weakling on the Internet got their feelings hurt.
Someone doesn’t like my tweets. Narcissist.
Someone doesn’t like my tone. Narcissist.
God forbid I show normal human emotion. Narcissist.
Someone doesn’t like that I get annoyed that they’re diagnosing my mental health with no credentials to do so. That DEFINITELY makes me a narcissist.
There is one benefit of having this type of shit happen to you on the regular: It teaches you very quickly how to identify when it’s happening to others.
The media manipulates stuff like this all the time, on people far more consequential than me. And it’s important to be able to tell when it’s happening. Otherwise, they control you.
Let me show you how this game is played.
Politico hates Elon Musk because he isn’t a raging leftist and bought their favorite toy - Twitter - without seeking their approval.
But they can’t say it that directly. If Politico published an article (even just an opinion piece that they could claim plausible deniability over) saying “Elon Musk is a poppiehead”, they may not look like a serious, unbiased publication.
So, instead, they write an article that’s totally not about Elon Musk. It’s about a lot of people who people commonly agree are narcissists - Meghan Markle, Elizabeth Holmes, Donald Trump - and then include Elon Musk on the list.
And then they use only his picture when they tweet it. Funny how that works.
Is Musk a narcissist? Maybe, maybe not. Everyone has narcissistic traits, especially entrepreneurs as successful as he is.
But let’s be clear - Politico doesn’t care what the truth is. Whether Elon Musk would ever realistically be diagnosed as having narcissistic personality disorder is immaterial. It doesn’t matter that it’s completely unethical to diagnose someone with a personality order for public entertainment, even if it is true.
The only thing that matters is convincing people that Elon is a narcissist, and thus an evil Cluster B villain.
And, in order to do this, they have to convince you that everything Elon does (at least since he stated his intentions to engage in a hostile takeover of their favorite platform) is evil, the worst possible thing a person can do and done with the worst possible intention.
Behold:
Let’s break down the distortions.
“Musk, who was recently dethroned as the richest man in the world.”
People hinged into reality: “Elon Musk is still pretty damn rich.”
Politico: “Elon Musk is a FAILURE! He’s trying to save face!!!! You know who else wants to save face???? NARCISSISTS”
“Musk has always been a volatile public figure…”
People hinged into reality: “Elon Musk is the only person who told us the truth about Twitter”
Politico: “Elon Musk RUINED EVERYTHING”
“…but his stewardship of SpaceX and Tesla gave him an aura of hyper-competence”
People hinged into reality: “Elon Musk is Iron Man”
Politico: “Elon Musk’s success is all a scam!”
“Then he took control of Twitter, firing staff and picking fights, as his brand and businesses suffered.”
People hinged into reality: “Elon Musk fired 75% of Twitter’s staff because 75% of their staff deserved to be fired.”
Politico: “Elon Musk is a MONSTER!”
“Twitter is bleeding users.”
People hinged into reality: “Twitter is better than ever.”
Politico: “Twitter will FAIL ANYTIME NOW.”
“Tesla stock was down nearly 30 percent in December.”
People hinged into reality: “I want a self-driving car.”
Politico: “TESLA IS GOING TO FAIL TOO.”
“‘It’s amazing,’ the British broadcaster Shaun Keaveny tweeted at him after a recent eruption, ‘how you manage to be, on the one hand, one of the most powerful people in the world, and on the other, a massively needy attention-seeking tool.’”
People hinged into reality: “Elon Musk is the most powerful person in the world and they are going to try to kill him for it. GET SECURITY ELON!!!”
Politico: “Elon Musk is an attention-seeking NARCISSIST”
“‘These people have this hyperactivity, this constant need to do something … filtered through this inflated self-view,’ he says. They draw the spotlight, attention wanes, and they try to do it again.”
People hinged into reality: “Elon Musk is literally Iron Man.”
Politico: “Every time Elon tweets its proof that he’s a NARCISSIST!!!”
The person who wrote this searing piece of journalist has her Post and Mastodon links in her Twitter profile, probably scared she’s going to get banned any minute.
That tells you all you need to know.
